I dislike the term ‘choking.’ It has negative, almost cowardly implications. Many excellent, heroic performers have been unfairly labeled as weak under pressure, often by those who could not even begin to comprehend the kind of stresses involved in performing at the pinnacle of sport. As golfer Tom Watson says: ‘A lot of guys who have never choked have never been in a position to do so.’ And, in fact, it isn’t mental fragility that causes choking at all; it’s more like a lack of mental discipline, or a failure to organize one’s thoughts when the pressure is on.Dr. Dave Alred MBEThe Author of this QuoteAuthorDr. Dave Alred MBEPerformance Coach Working in Sports.
