HI! I'M Marc Bowker!

My wife Angie (Heroic Coach Class VIII) and I have been married for 28 years. We have three kids—24, 22, and 15. Twenty-one years ago, we opened our comic book shop, Alter Ego Comics, in Lima, Ohio. Since then, Alter Ego has received various recognitions, including Small Business of the Year by The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce, the Traveler’s Choice Award by Tripadvisor, Neighborhood Fave by NextDoor, and being profiled by The Ohio Secretary of State. We were also named Best of the Region by The Lima News. In addition to running our business, I’m an active leader in our community, serving on several boards and participating in the local Exchange and Rotary service organizations.

 

MY ORIGIN STORY

From the outside, I had a picture-perfect life. But on the inside, I was filled with fear and anxiety about my family and business. This led to a life-changing nervous breakdown in 2016 and a diagnosis of anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Since then, I’ve been sharing my story on stages, at service clubs, and over cups of coffee—speaking out about the importance of mental health and personal development.

I discovered Heroic in the fall of 2022 and signed up for Coach Class VIII. I immediately connected with Brian Johnson on many levels, and as a Philosophy minor in college, I appreciated the practical tools based on ancient wisdom and modern science. Angie and I were so inspired that we became Heroic investors and attended the 2023 graduation in Los Angeles.

In early 2024, I stepped forward into growth, joining the first cohort of Heroic Performance Coaches, and I was honored to be selected as part of the first group of Heroic Workshop Trainers. Now, I’m excited to help Heroic reach their goal of 51/2051 by holding workshops for small businesses in my community. My next workshops are for Allen Lima Leadership and the Allen County Juvenile Court.
