Heroes!

Michael here. 👋

Happy Sunday!

Super quick before we get into it:

THREE QUESTION Heroic survey (inspired by Brian’s experiment and Dr Jones’ curiosity):

  1. How much time before bed do you eat your last bite?
  2. Are you a: (Select all that apply) Free member | Premium member | Working 1-on-1 with a Heroic Performance Coach | Certified Heroic Coach | Certified Workshop Instructor
  3. What is your Soul Force Score in the Heroic App?
  4. (Bonus) What is your average readiness, sleep, and activity scores from the last month?

Now let’s get to the Brief, starting with the experiment that inspired the above!

1. “All life is an experiment…”

Have you tried this yet?!?

“I find data fascinating. The primary driver for this low RHR (40) and high HRV (66)? I had my last meal five hours before bed.

Check out the numbers after a night I ate less than optimal food at less than optimal meal times for juxtaposition.

If you feel so inspired... Test having your last meal an hour or two earlier than you currently do if you're not having it within the recommended 3-4 hours before bed window!

And... Check out my chat with ChatGPT.

I'm also having fun going deep. Lots of new Notes on Energy fundies (eating moving sleeping breathing focusing!) and maybe some new 201 classes!!

Day 1. All in. LET'S GO!

HRV > RHR 🎯”

Check out the rest of the pictures to see what ChatGPT has to say!

And inspired by Dr. Jones’ curiosity:

“I wonder what % of the Heroic community or % of Coaches eat, 2,3, or 4 hrs before sleep? And if I know the benefits already, why am I not at 4 hours, more like 2 hrs? At least we should all do a monthly test so that we KNOW those high leverage actions yield serious results. Get them baked into our brains as proven data, perhaps that's a good start for some of us 👍Heroics United! ✅”

2. Changing Your Story by Bill Beswick

This week’s new Philosopher’s Note is on Changing Your Story by Bill Beswick.

Here’s the intro quote to the Note:

“The key transformational moment in my long career in sport—playing, teaching, coaching, and supporting performance—was when I finally understood that the mind was the athlete and the body simply the means. How you think, and therefore feel, is vital in releasing positive energy and realizing your physical abilities to the full. Sport teaches you to understand yourself better and come to terms with the strength of character needed to face challenges and how to learn to overcome failures. In the end it’s not about what you achieve but who you become. The stories I tell in the pages of this book give insights into experiences such as decision-making, overcoming fear, feelings of worthlessness and vulnerability, and led to many instances of great success both in sport and elsewhere in life.

Everybody wants to be a top performer in their life, not just those involved in sport. However, what often happens is that the treadmill of life’s daily challenges wears down our good intentions and we accept a lesser life. … Because my work is about changing thinking and behavior, taking people from negative to positive, this book contains many lessons to help readers become mentally and emotionally stronger. The reason that athletes succeed is that they, as distinct from the general population, are taught the physical and mental strategies of building and maintaining high performance. My experiences allow you moments inside the arena with the elite athletes and would-be champions with whom I have worked. This gives you the opportunity to share the strategies and tactics that have helped athletes and their coaches overcome their stress and anxiety and meet challenges. I hope these processes are presented in ways that encourage you to adopt them in your own search for a more fulfilling life.”

5. More community awesomeness

Some highlights from this week.

  • Colin’s Elephant Adventures
Colin turned a shower thought into a superhero deed! From rocking an elephant costume to launching a charity book, his journey from charity founder to Heroic enthusiast shows that real magic happens when we follow our heart.
  • Beth’s Epic Bike Ride
Beth tackled a grueling 65-mile bike ride that threw more at her than she expected. When the going got tough, her friends didn’t just stick around—they pushed her (literally!) up those killer hills. Heroes have (and accept!) strength for two!
  • Wyatt’s Breakthrough Moment
Wyatt’s work with kids is changing lives. This week, he’s celebrating a huge win for one of his young clients. This kind of impact is what Heroic’s all about—turning challenges into victories and making every day count.

Keep up the awesome work, and keep sharing! Your stories aren’t just inspiring—they’re what Heroic is all about.

+1. Wisdom from the week:

“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.”

— Arthur Ashe
