Can You Afford Not to Act? (The cost of not acting? Far more than $1,000.)

This morning I was doing my thing after crushing the AM protocol when I saw a post in the app about the true cost of Elite / optimizing our lives (or not!) that I want to chat about.

Of course, today started last night…

I got up at 4:12am after 8 hours and 47 minutes in bed (TIB!). (Yes, I went to bed at 7:25 along with the rest of the fam—two hours after the sun set!) With 90% efficiency, I got 7 hours and 55 minutes of sleep.

Combine that with 101% all in nutrition and movement protocol domination and I can assure you I feel Zesty and more Heroically Energized than ever. 🤓

As I told Brandon and Sean the other day, I see everything through the Elite protocols now. Sleep protocol dominate for the win. (Check that out here.) (Nutrition + Movement + more coming soon.)

Note…

I went to bed early after an incredible day hammering a TON of Elite stuff and working on a really fun evolution of the +1s we’re announcing tomorrow (keep your eyes peeled 👀) while the kids spent four hours at a trampoline place and Mommy crushed her Heroic Elite Women’s-only discovery call.

Check out that replay here. I am proud of my Wifey and I’m beyond thrilled we’re integrating her wisdom and presence into Elite. 🙏

Now…

Here’s the post I saw from Kelly Dean on Heroic.

He says:

🎯 I am in for Heroic Elite! 🔥

I had been on the fence, until I reflected where I was in March 2021. At that time, COVID had impacted not only my physical health but also my emotional and spiritual wellbeing. I had chronic back and neck pain and was unable to walk, sit or sleep - this led to anxiety, depression, frustration and fear of the future. Thanks to my Chiropractor, a long time follower of Brian's, put me back together again.

In the summer of 2021, I knew I had to transform myself; so I took up meditation, and signed up for a 16 week instructor training course that concluded with a 1 week long retreat in Carlsbad. Thanks Davidji 🙏

This ultimately led me to Heroic, whereby I signed up for Coach Class VIII. As they say "the rest is history”

Fast forward to today, I am in the best shape in my life at 56 years young, I haven't drank alcohol in about 2 years, completed 4 Spartans and several 10 km runs in 2024, have a successful consulting and coaching business and have 2 kids that made the Dean's list in their first year.

Long story shorter... I owe a lot to Heroic! And still see myself as a "2" and not an "8"... never exonerated !! So much work left to do!

If you are looking at Heroic Elite from a cost benefit analysis:

what does added 10-20 years of healthy living mean to you?
what $ will you save by not drinking your sugar, not buying processed foods and not overeating?
what will you save in time and money by not being sick and going to the doctor, hospital etc.
what does restoration of your mental and emotional health mean to you? Can you even put a price on that?
what does it mean to show up in Arete for your family and friends?
how much do you value the Heroic community? and being present with members of this great grassroots movement?
what are the alternatives? Perhaps you have an alternative or are planning to do this on your own? That’s great if you do! 😃 Not great if you do not! 😢

Do your homework before you decide not to do this. I have and the benefits far exceeds the cost! ♥️ 🔥

I decided to send this email now because Kelly put it so much better than we ever could.

Know this…

We were working on a similar-themed email and hadn’t sent it out yet because talking about the cost of NOT acting is a slightly awkward, self-serving thing to say.

It can easily come across as hype-marketing and, although we’re unapologetically relentless in our inviting you to answer our call to adventure, I have a VERY strong allergy to most internet marketing and I’m always telling our team to just talk like you’d talk to a friend or your mom and skip the salesy stuff.

Anyway…

When I saw that post, I knew we needed to share it along with what we had been working on.

Here it is…

Imagine this: You keep putting off the decision to go all in on yourself. You know you want to increase your energy, productivity, and connection—to thrive in your relationships, your work, and your life—but the days keep slipping by. What’s the cost of staying stuck

  • Your Energy: Every day you wake up tired, unfocused, or stressed is a day lost. What’s the price of endless fatigue or burnout?
  • Your Productivity: Missed opportunities to perform at your best cost more than just time—they cost you momentum, success, and income.
  • Your Connection: What’s the value of deeply connecting with your family, friends, and loved ones? Can you afford to miss those moments?

Now compare that to this:

For just $1,000, Heroic Elite gives you 101 days of elite transformation. That’s about $10 a day—less than the cost of a quick meal out. And in return, you’ll gain tools, habits, and insights that will extend not just your health span, but your lifespan—potentially adding an entire decade to your life.

Not investing in yourself isn’t just expensive—it’s devastating. Lost years of vitality. Missed chances to unlock your potential. And the heavy toll of knowing you could have done more but didn’t.

This is your invitation to step into your highest potential—to optimize every aspect of your life for just $1,000. The question is: Can you afford not to act?

Take the leap. Commit to yourself. Join Heroic Elite today. Your future self will thank you.

That’s all I’ve got.

We’d be honored to welcome you to Elite.

Day 1. All in.

Let’s go!

B

P.S. As we explored how to frame this, Bryan T on our team (there are three of us! He’s 6 inches taller than me and the other B! 😳 😆) shared this chat he had with ChatGPT …

Bryan: What’s the cost of the most common major operations related to chronic diseases?

ChatGPT: The cost of major operations related to chronic diseases can vary significantly depending on factors such as location, hospital, insurance coverage, and complexity. Below are approximate costs for common procedures in the United States (where healthcare is among the most expensive globally):

1. Heart Surgery

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG): $30,000 - $200,000
  • Angioplasty (with stent placement): $20,000 - $50,000
  • Heart valve replacement: $50,000 - $200,000

2. Diabetes-related Surgeries

  • Amputation (due to complications): $30,000 - $60,000
  • Kidney transplant (due to diabetic nephropathy): $300,000 - $500,000 (first year includes follow-up care and medication)
  • Pancreas transplant: $150,000 - $200,000

3. Cancer Surgeries

  • Lung cancer surgery: $20,000 - $50,000 (excluding chemotherapy/radiation therapy)
  • Colon cancer surgery: $25,000 - $60,000
  • Mastectomy (breast cancer): $15,000 - $40,000

4. Joint Replacement (Often Linked to Obesity or Osteoarthritis)

  • Knee replacement: $30,000 - $50,000
  • Hip replacement: $30,000 - $45,000

5. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Surgeries

  • Lung reduction surgery: $30,000 - $80,000
  • Lung transplant: $500,000 - $800,000

6. Liver Diseases

  • Liver transplant (due to cirrhosis or cancer): $250,000 - $750,000

7. Kidney Disease

  • Dialysis (long-term): $70,000 - $100,000 per year
  • Kidney transplant: $300,000 - $500,000

8. Obesity-related Surgeries

  • Bariatric surgery (e.g., gastric bypass): $15,000 - $30,000

Additional Costs to Consider:

  • Pre- and post-operative care: Diagnostic tests, hospital stay, and follow-up appointments can add significantly to the total cost.
  • Medications and rehabilitation: These can cost thousands more, especially for transplant recipients or cancer patients.

For those without insurance, these costs can be catastrophic, highlighting the importance of coverage or financial assistance in the U.S. health system.
